CoD Quest 3: Meet the Blacksmith!

   

                   

Maku entered the store, Karia resting calmly on top on their head.
They'd never considered buying a weapon before. It was curious, but they had simply never thought it necessary.
However, after the sudden apparition of a Nightmare near the village, it became clear to everyone that they'd need a way to protect themselves if one decided to approach them ever again.

"Now, which weapon would look the coolest...?" Maku walked towards a big shield and examined it. Sure, it was impressive, but a shield wasn't really something they could use as much as a weapon than just to defend themself. They glanced at one of the axes nailed to the wall. Yes, that's perfect. Intimidating, big, dangerous, impressive. Something like that would surely scare a Nightmare away-

"Hello?" A tall man emerged from behind the shield, "I could've sworn I heard someone".

"wOW, WHO WHAT WHERE?!" Maku jumped, startled by the sudden appearance. Karia took the opportunity to jump towards a table near them and examine the different weapons.

"Oh. How can I help you?"

"Ehem," Maku cleared their throat, "Yes, hello. I want to buy that baddass axe right there". They pointed at the axe on the wall.

"Uh... Isn't that weapon too big for you? I think something smaller would fit you better", the man said and walked to the table Karia was sitting in.

"ARE YOU CALLING ME SHORT?! Just so you know, I'm WAY stronger than you might think, so don't go messing around with me, pal".

"...Alright". Jonathan raised an eyebrow, but decided not to argue, "I'm just saying some sort of knife would fit you best".

Karia stepped on a weapon and glanced at the blacksmith, "I think your Companion agrees".

Maku walked towards them, "But I want a huge, super-cool weapon! I don't- Wait..." They squinted at the blacksmith, "Now that I think about it... Don't I know you from somewhere?"

"I don't think so?"

"Yeah, no, I know that dumb face-"

"Wow thanks, you're like half my size so that's not-" Jonathan replied, but got interrupted.

"I'VE SEEN THAT DUMB FACE BEFORE! Have we met?! Have I robbed you, perhaps?"

"...What the fuck-"

"OH, I KNOW!! You're from that village I got kicked out of, right?" Maku grinned, triumphantly, "Yeah! The one where I stole a bunch of shiny things, and there was this lady who was all 'Aaah!! help me, this guy stole my bracelet-!' buuuut that's not important. Yeah, you were there! Maaaan, those were good times".

"Wha- I-" Jonathan sighed, "Sure, why not, kid".

"HeY, WATCH IT!" They pointed at the blacksmith, "I'M NOT A KID, I'M SEVENTEEN. I'M ALMOST AN ADULT!"

"Really? Sorry, I thought you were Hazel's age".

Maku stared at the man in silence for a few seconds, "Wait a minute..."

"What?"

"YOU KNOW HAZEL?!" They looked at Jonathan, perplexed.

"Actually, I-" Jonathan tried to explain, but was interrupted.

"Woah, weird coincidence! I've known them for a while too, hahaha! Aaanyways, I want the axe". Maku pointed towards the axe once again, before feeling a soft paw on their hand.

Looking down, they noticed Karia, now patting the knife in front of her frantically. "I don't want a knife, I want that bigass weapon!"

Karia kept insisting, glaring at them.

"I'd listen to her if I were you". Jonathan smirked.

Maku and Karia glared at each other for a few minutes, deep in conversation. They sighed as they rolled their eyes. "FIIINE, GUESS I'LL GET THE DUMB KNIFE. You both happy?"

Karia smiled and jumped inside Maku's poncho. Grabbing a few coins, she jumped back to the table and dropped them.

"Thank you". The blacksmith smiled at the Dream and grabbed the money, tossing it inside his pocket, "Please doing business with you!"

"Yeah, yeah, shut up", mumbled Maku as they grabbed the butterfly knife. As they walked out of the store, Karia hurried up and stopped in front of them. With a long sigh, Maku went back and gave back three extra knives, one katar and a couple of arrows hiding under their clothes.

"Wha- When did you-?"

"You're really boring sometimes, you know that?" Maku glared a Karia, ignoring Jonathan's question. Karia just smiled back, resting comfortable on their shoulder.

Sorry if the dialogue's a bit weird, I had a lot of trouble writing it out for some reason fdksgjsldf
Anyways, yeah! Maku's weapon is a Butterfly Knife!

"HOLY FUCK I GOT IT"
"...It's Hazel's uncle!"

"Yeah, high five me. I'm the best"
